Dogs registered with the LCHA are permitted at Christopher Beach park. The registration form can be found at the bottom of this page.
The Parks and Lake page contains Specific Regulations for Dogs. Please take a moment to review the regulations and to read these Frequently Asked Quesitons (FAQ's) about the regulations:
Q: Is Christopher Beach now a Dog Park?
A: Not Really. Christopher Beach is still a “people park” for the exclusive use of Lake Christopher homeowners, renters, and their accompanied guests. However, the rules for Christopher Beach have been modified to allow dogs. Now residents walking in the community with their dogs can take advantage of a park! However, dogs in the park must be registered with the LCHA, and they must be on a leash (unless in the water). Most importantly, dogs must not disturb other users of the park. If you see dogs off-leash in the park please contact CityWide Security at 757-312-9911
Q: I have 3 dogs. Can I only register and bring 2 of them?
A: You can register all your dogs, but only 2 can be in the park with you at any given time. Registration tags cannot be switched from one dog to another. Each dog must have its own unique registration tag.
Q: My relatives bring their dog when they come to visit us. Can they bring their dog to the park?
A: Yes, if the dog is registered with the LCHA, and if you are with them when they bring the dog to the park. The park is for the exclusive use of Lake Christopher homeowners, renters, and their accompanied guests, so if your guest has a registered dog, you must still accompany them to the park.
Q: Can I allow my dog to swim in the lake?
A: Yes. However, keep in mind that the dog must be under the owner’s control at all times. When not in the water the dog must be on leash. When in the water the dog must not swim to adjacent properties and trespass onto private land. If your dog is not controllable, you should not allow it in the lake.
Q: I live closer to the Christopher Narrows park. Can I bring my LCHA registered dog there?
A: No. All other parks have no pets allowed. Only at Christopher Beach are dogs allowed under the conditions specified in the regulations.
Q: Will anybody be checking LCHA dog tags?
A: Yes. Citywide Protection Services conducts regular patrols of Lake Christopher and our parks. Dog owners must cooperate with Citywide officers and/or Park Attendants who ask to verify your dog's tag.
Q: What if I'm trying to enjoy the park and I'm being bothered by dogs off-leash?
A: Please call Citywide Protection Services and also let a board member know. Dogs in the park must not disturb other users of the park. Dogs are to be on-leash when not in the water and under the owner's control at all times.
Note: You may need to try the "Captcha" a few times. It is case sensitive and it is sometimes difficult to tell the case of the code letters.
